L200

Mitsubishi L200

The L200 is arguably the jewel in Mitsubishi’s crown. It’s certainly one of the very best pick-up trucks that money can buy, if not the best. Hard-working, tough and built to last, the L200 offers excellent towing capacity and off-road ability.

Exterior

While the L200 looks as though it means business, it’s certainly not lacking in stylish flourishes, with colour keyed bumpers that subtly enhance the body. All double cab variants feature minimum size 16-inch alloy wheels too, which are eye-catching and efficiently lightweight. Daytime running lights and rear fog lamps are also standard inclusions, delivering improved visibility. The L200 can support up to 1,050kg in its load bed, which measures 147 cubic metres and is a shade under 48cm deep.

Interior

The L200’s cab is well put together, echoing the resilience of the vehicle’s exterior. Front-row travellers are provided with very supportive seats, and the driver further benefits from a tilt and telescopic steering wheel which is leather clad and multifunctional, making it easy to safely control audio and telephone functions without taking your eyes off the road.

Performance

The L200 is powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine, with a power output of 181bhp, available in six-speed manual or automatic. The 181bhp produces 430Nm of torque and allows the vehicle to proceed from 0-60mph in a little over ten seconds. The CO2 emissions range between 37.7g/km and 40.9g/km, depending on the variant/engine combination. The vehicle is able to tow as much as 3,100kg (braked) or 750kg (unbraked). The L200 4Life models come with Easy Select four-wheel drive. Higher specification trims, meanwhile, feature Super Select, which enables the vehicle to be driven in four-wheel drive mode on every kind of surface.

Technology and safety

An MP3-compatible radio is featured as standard, as is USB and bluetooth connectivity, enabling audio streaming and the ability to make hands free calls.

The active stability, traction control system and anti-lock braking system, each help to minimise skidding and are among a range of driver aids included as standard. Trailer stability assist is also featured and works with traction control system to help to keep the trailer properly aligned at all times.
